These unique specimens are similar to our smaller two inch Lightning Cubes, but these specimens and captured lightning figures are significantly larger and considerably more impressive. We started with carefully cut and polished 3 inch acrylic cubes. These were then irradiated multiple times using a high energy electron beam from a particle accelerator. By irradiating all six faces of the cube and then carefully discharging them, we obtained a series of three dimensional discharges, loosely forming a branched lightning "cube within a cube" instead of a single flat 2D discharge. Cubes created during our later production runs have charge planes that are slightly closer to the surfaces of the cube.

The following images do not adequately capture the depth, clarity, and jewel-like 3D character of these figures. When illuminated by a multicolor or white LED base, these become sparkling jewels, glowing from within. Laser crystal art can't begin to match the exquisite detail and intricate complexity of the thousands of fractal discharges inside these cubes. Although the actual pattern varies from specimen to specimen, your satisfaction is guaranteed.
